Kuwait recently became the vibrant heart of global craftsmanship, hosting the World Crafts Forum, where master artisans and cultural leaders from over 20 nations gathered to celebrate heritage, skill, and creativity.

From Kuwait’s iconic Al-Sadu weaving and the legendary craftsmanship of traditional dhow builders, to the intricate textiles and pottery traditions from across continents, the forum stood as a powerful reminder that craft is a universal language — one that transcends borders and generations.

This remarkable gathering fostered meaningful exchange through:
Cultural Diplomacy – strengthening global connections through shared traditions
Innovation – showcasing how timeless crafts evolve in the modern world
Global Recognition – elevating the role of artisans in today’s cultural and economic landscape

In a proud and inspiring development, Mr. Saad Alqaddumi, President of the World Crafts Council AISBL, has formally signed the proposal confirming Sri Lanka’s willingness to host a future edition of the World Crafts Forum. The invitation has been graciously accepted, marking a significant moment for Sri Lanka on the global stage.

This milestone reflects the growing recognition of Sri Lanka’s rich craft heritage and its enduring contribution to the world of traditional craftsmanship.

While our patterns may differ, our passion for preservation unites us all. 🏺
